No time to cry

45/365

Escaped bird attack,
wing damaged,
but no time to cry.
Resting in sun
after a swing
of nectar-ecstasy.

Love and duty, hand in hand

Let gratitude

circle your every cell

allow love,
accept duty
they go hand in hand.

Grace

Am sure that meeting her on my way to work

blessed me with extra patience and grace.

Seventy to thirty

42/365

 Even a stone
shows us the way back to God,
to the source
to yourself
in the awe of no words

Between rocks
of 70-30 million years old
Near Osfan village, outside Jeddah.

Half moon, knees weak

41/365
Half moon,
weak knees
unusually cool breeze
an audacious wind
and a cloud settling within me

Offered unrequested help
countless times, now
her reluctance coupled with annoyance
when things swapped
scratched my inside...

As I kept walking the darkness
Abrar, Rahaf and Ghufran
circled the swings,
sing in Arabic
"those who suffer don't understand life".

Just before you leave

...it will come to you
just before you leave
just before you pack your past away
and leave the future to those who own it...

And fly a kite on your wounds

...Love...
 will come to you,
I am sure of that
and fly a kite on your wounds
to which you will curl the final tear
around your finger.
38/365
Open your arms
and hold your love
as if it were the last branch
reaching out from the side
 of a giant mountain
and you've been falling
your whole life.
It will come to you
in the same way it left you,
unexpected
with your shivering heart
throwing itself to the lightning
blind
thunderous
and mad."
